As of earlier this month new laws were put in place to phase out the most polluting fuels being used in our homes.
The Ready To Burn certification is only awarded to those suppliers who are able to meet the strict criteria. – all our kiln dried wood is certified and registered under our Ready to Burn certification number: WS228/00001 and guaranteed to be below the 20% moisture content required (usually and consistently our firewood is way below this! – even during our busiest season ever this winter we refused to reduce our kiln drying time as the quality of our logs means so much to us)
More information can be found on the HETAS website or via the Woodsure Ready to Burn pages
As a family company we tread as lightly as we can on the planet doing what we do & producing the best quality kiln dried firewood is a big part of that – Defra has confirmed that burning dry wood produces more heat and less soot than wet wood and can reduce emissions by up to 50% (it also is much better for your pocket. We also have other measures in place to ensure we’re doing our bit for the environment:
We use only sustainable sourced UK wood which is becoming increasingly unusual – a lot of wood suppliers are now using cheaper sources from eastern Europe which then has to be transported to the UK, look out for terms like ‘processed in the UK’ as they’re sneaking into the bigger log suppliers information blurbs at an alarming rate! Our wood comes from only UK forests and for every tree cut, another is planted.
We also provide our wood in our unique EasyStore bags which we collect and re-use when you’re done with them – we’re true believers in the reduce, reuse and recycle philosophy and do our best to live by it daily.
We will only use other suppliers for associated products such as kindling or fire lighters if they also share our values – kindling that also holds the Ready to Burn accreditation & natural firelighters – the days of wrapped, block firelighters & shards of cut down fence panel for kindling should most definitely be over.
We are always available and ready to chat regarding the new legislation or any of our values so please feel free to call or email our team if you have any questions or concerns.
